About AE

Artistic Energies is the art studio of David Wallace Haskins based in Chicago, IL.

Working from a multidisciplinary platform, AE conducts experiments and explorations with light, space, vision and sound while consulting and collaborating with a wide array of specialists- from psychologists, physicists, and mathematicians- to philosophers, geographers, and ecologists. Together with a core creative team of likeminded artists and technicians, Haskins develops and evolves these experiments into innovative art installations.

Inspired by a lifelong study of perception, and the intersections of contrasting phenomena, Haskins works to bring the viewer into a kind of phenomenological perception that challenges their preconceived notions of reality and reconnects them with their sense of wonder. He aims to free the imagination, inviting the viewer to see with new eyes.

Haskins celebrates the individual within the context of community by inviting them into a dialogical relationship with the art, the artist, and fellow viewers. His pieces are often large-scale, site-specific and interactive.
